Did I Miss Something?

Last night Joe and I watched one of my favorite movies: The Three Amigos. It's fun because it's a movie we both remember watching while we were young. What we DON'T remember watching when we were young were all the "adult" jokes, if you will :) We were sitting there, singing along to "My Little Buttercup," trying to remember what El Guapo got for his birthday, and attempting the hand clap/hip thrust greeting...and I'm not sure if we were just too young, or our parents taped the TV versions for us to watch, but there were so many grown-up lines that we just didn't catch 20 years ago. Has that happened to anyone else? Have you been surprised by the content of a movie you re-watched years later?

"Everyone has their El Guapo. For some, shyness is their El Guapo. For some, illiteracy is their El Guapo. For the citizens of this town, their El Guapo happens to be the real El Guapo."

this has happened to me SO MANY TIMES. and I find that the movies i liked as a kid that don't have the "adult lines" tend to become super lame in my mind, where I have a new found appreciation for those that work blue.

p.s. Steve Martin in this movie makes my life.

Dude, I watche SHREK the other day and noticed that it was totally for adults not kids.
But the worst is when I grow up loving a movie and then I tell someone it is awesome and then when we watch it together I totally forgot about the loads of bad language and they think 'wow, you liked THIS?!' OOpsy

Yep--don't try to reminisce with "Back to the Future" and your young children unless it's on Clearplay... I couldn't believe how horrible the language was! I didn't remember it like that at all. And then we took the kids to see "Into the Woods," which has way more mature themes than I expected. Argh/

I actually have seen a few Full House episodes that had 'adult' one liners here and there...Dirty, dirty Bob Saget :)

yeah, that happened with "Annie." we LOVED this movie as kids but then I watched it with my kids and there's Miss Hannigan, drunken and mean, prancing around in lingerie...not so kid-friendly!

Yeah. Did you ever watch "Clue" when you were little, and then see it when you were older? Skanky. (And so, so funny.)
